LEARN MORE ABOUT WHAT WE DO
Additionally, we support many non-profit organizations serving our local community by providing financial assistance and encouraging our members to volunteer and give back. In August 2017, we announced the creation of our SBYPC Foundation, a 501(c)(3) charity, in order to formalize our philanthropy efforts.
SBYPC is a non-profit organization founded for charitable and public purposes. We provide exciting networking opportunities to the Santa Barbara business community through monthly mixers, fundraisers and other special events throughout the year.
Our goal is to create a fun environment for our local business community to network, learn and grow. Through public awareness of civic groups and programs serving the underprivileged in our community, we foster interaction between the business and non-profit sectors. By bringing people together, we provide financial assistance to many organizations and support through volunteerism.
Monthly Business Casual Mixers
Our Mixers are typically held on the second Wednesday of each month (excluding August & December) from 5:30-7:30pm at unique locations each time. Open to the public, these events offer our members a chance to get to know one another in a friendly, casual atmosphere. FREE for SBYPC Members and just $10 for Guests, our Mixers attract between 75-100 people on average.
Our August Summer Soirée, formerly known as the Mega Mixer, has become one of our largest networking (and fundraising) events of the year with 100% of proceeds from our Silent Auction going to support local Non-Profits.
Santa Barbara Heart Walk
Our participation in the Heart Walk promotes fun ways to be physically active and make healthier choices everyday. Imagine the impact if we reduce death and disability from cardiovascular diseases and stroke by 20% by 2020.
For the second consecutive year, the SBYPC Board of Directors has sponsored a team to support the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association Santa Barbara Heart & Stroke Walk.
Annual Holiday Gala Benefit
The Annual Holiday Gala Benefit, a fundraiser for our featured Non-Profit of the Year, is our largest and most well-attended event of the year, attracting between 200-300 young professionals. During the Gala, the winner of the Santa Barbara Young Professional of the Year Award is announced from among the Top Five Finalists.
Young Professional of the Year
The Santa Barbara Young Professional of the Year Award is given annually to an individual age 45 or younger who has exhibited a level of excellence in the areas of leadership, community involvement and/or entrepreneurship in our community. The recipient of Santa Barbara Young Professional of the Year Award is announced at the Annual Holiday Gala Benefit held in December.
Non-Profit of the Year
SBYPC features a different civic organization each month at our Business Casual Monthly Mixers. These organizations are then eligible to become the Non-Profit of the Year and the benefactor of our fundraising efforts over the course of the year, culminating in the donation check celebration at the Annual Holiday Gala Benefit. For nearly two decades, SBYPC has gifted between $1,000-$7,500 annually to organizations in need.

FOUNDED IN 1996
In March of 1996, a group of young professionals residing and working in Santa Barbara formed a club that would cater to individuals interested in enhancing social and professional contacts. The Santa Barbara Young Professionals Club came to be as an outgrowth of an informal gathering of young professionals that socialized on a regular basis at what was referred to as Big Wednesdays. The original members included J. Paul Gignac, Amanda Thomas, Shana Bright, Michael Magne, Laird Cagan, Jim Hazard, Laura Carlos and their illustrious ring-leader Dan Encell.
Throughout the history of the club, its members have been dedicated to assisting various organizations in Santa Barbara.
Organizations that have received financial contributions from SBYPC fundraising activities include Shelter Services for Women, The Special Olympics, Transition House, Direct Relief International, Deserving Dogs, the American Heart Association, the Gwendolyn Strong Foundation, and the Teddy Bear Cancer Foundation to name a few. SBYPC has always attracted a professionally diverse, fun and dynamic group of men and women. The club strives to provide an environment that is conducive to enhancing social and professional contacts. As our organization continues to grow, we infuse greater diversity, vitality and new ideas that are of benefit to all our members.
